Solution-focused therapy

Solution-focused therapy is a method focused on increasing ones autonomy. Here we look at the solution rather then the problem. We start from the idea that it’s not always necessary to understand the root of the problem in order to solve it. Hence the focus of the treatment is on finding solutions.

Positive psychology

Positive psychology is a type of treatment within psychology that focuses on wellness and performing to the best of your ability. We emphasise possible solutions, not problems. The treatment is about re-enforcing the positive and things that are working. We focus on positive experiences such as happiness, hope and love and positive qualities such as vitality, perseverance and wisdom.

Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)

ACT is a new type of behavioural therapy. Here we teach how to focus on issues that we can influence directly, such as our own behaviour, rather then trying to get control over issues that we can’t influence, such as emotions, thoughts and bodily sensations. This way clients can focus their attention on issues they truly find important (values). The core of the ACT philosophy is that fighting against unavoidable issues ultimately result in a lack of vitality and a rewarding life. The focus of ACT is on increasing ones psychological flexibility.

Cognitive behavioral therapy

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) focuses on ways of thinking about feelings and behaviours. Those who view important life events from a negative perspective, will sooner become anxious, sombre or irritated, along with all the negative consequences associated with that.

In cognitive behavioural therapy we look at whether this way of thinking is correct and which way of thinking is more useful and appropriate. This results in a positive change of feelings and behaviour.

EMDR

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of psychotherapy for people who have had traumatic experiences and suffer from this. EMDR is also and effective treatment for employees who encounter the same behavioural patterns and who actually want to change this. EMDR helps to influence deep-rooted beliefs in a structural way, which then allows one to create a new type of behaviour. EMDR facilitates the processing of a traumatic experience after which trauma related complaints disappear for good.
